Dreamhost Vs Siteground

We will take look at their pros and cons as well as any special mentions either host has.

I want to point out at this point that my main web hosting provider is WPX hosting They are my number 1 preferred provider.

I’ve been using WPX Hosting for quite a while now, and I am more than happy with the services and performances.

Righto… in saying that let’s see how these two stack up against each other in terms of features and functionality.

Dreamhost Vs Siteground Overview

Dreamhost Vs SitegroundRegardless if your a business owner, webmaster or an individual owning a web site is a huge step in your online presents. From choosing a domain name, outlining your site, getting that logo made… the list just goes on and on.

One of the main key points for any website is web hosting. In fact, it’s one of the most crucial parts of your web site, but failing to use one that is reliable and relevant to your site needs can be a real problem.

There are many aspects of hosting a website that you need to know and they differ depending on your individual needs.

Nevertheless, certain aspects are mutual to all web hosting providers that distinguish the good ones from the bad.

Siteground hosting holds a reputation on the market as one of the best alternatives for WordPress hosting the provider has excellent Security in some of the greatest speeds in the business.

Located in Bulgaria, Siteground was founded back in 2004 and ever since it’s been one of the leaders in the hosting industry.

It has offices in four locations and six data centers around the world and has over 2 million domains under their watch.

However, as with any other hosting provider, Siteground does have their weaknesses as well, which we’ll go over later.

Dreamhost is an award-winning hosting company with many features and flexible price plans most suitable for high traffic websites.

The company’s origin dates back to 1996, which more than two decades ago.

They are based in the United States and host more than a million websites around the world offer and at very affordable prices.

Dreamhost offers many features, including unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth all with regular backups, excellent support, and free SSL certificates.

However, despite the promising offers, they do have their disadvantages.

Let’s see how Dreamhost ranks against Siteground and which one should be your main website choice.

Siteground has an extensive list of Hosting features and offers web, cloud, WordPress and woo-commerce hosting for an affordable price.

The company’s most praised features are related to their WordPress hosting solutions and like Dreamhost are one of 3 platforms that are directly recommended by the platform as one of the best alternatives for WordPress users.

They offer everything from free security packages to e-commerce solutions and are excellent for both beginners and experienced website owners.

Siteground cloud hosting enables dedicated IP addresses, free SSL encryption certificates, free Cloudflare CDN a private DNS and regular backups.

They also offer a free website builder that’s very easy to use and navigate as well as a customized user-friendly web-based cPanel.

Dreamhost, on the other hand, offers several types of WordPress hosting including shared, managed and woo-commerce as well as dedicated server hosting, cloud hosting, VPS hosting and their most popular and cheapest offer the basic shared hosting plan.

Their shared hosting comes with free SSL security, a free domain, and unlimited storage and bandwidth and just then the same as Siteground, you get daily backups.

Dreamhost has its custom control panel and enables in-house support.

One thing that does bother me though is that website migrations can be a real PITA. If you’ve never done it before trust me you don’t want to tackle it on ya own.

Unfortunately, Dreamhost charges you $99 for a site migration period, whereas Siteground on the Growbig plan or higher is free.

It’s a close tie between the two hosting services as they both offer an extensive list of amazing hosting features in terms of performance and reliability.

Dreamhost Vs Siteground Reliability

Both Siteground and Dreamhost show promising results.

Their both speedy, while both having an awesome uptime of 99.99%.

Which means, both services are most certainly a certain reliable alternative for your web hosting.

It’s difficult to say which one is better in terms of performance and reliability because the two companies invest in their services to maximize their user satisfaction.

Dreamhost vs Siteground Speed

However, when it comes to page loading speed Siteground has a slight advantage with average page load times of just under 1 second, whereas Dreamhost is just a touch over the 1-second mark.

Around half a second between the two which for 99%, site owners will do little to nothing in the performance.

While Dreamhost is somewhat half a second slower Siteground that can change depending on the time of day.

Shared hosting regardless of who it’s with varies so much with getting accurate speed times and uploads.

Siteground is packed with security features and will automatically protect your website.

Security

The company offers daily backups, free SSL and TLS certificates and their anti-bot AI prevention tool.

For an additional price, Siteground will also equip your website with the SG site scanner tool that will scan for possible vulnerabilities.

Dreamhost includes most of its security tools in the price plans, which means you won’t have to pay extra money for them.

The company encrypts your website with free SSL and TLS certificates.

Mod security, which is an app firewall for Apache servers and they also offer free daily backups.

They don’t have a malware scanner but do offer their proprietary dream shield tool that will scan your website for malware for an additional $3 a month.

Support

web host supportIf you need any type of support Dreamhost will help you through email and their live chat which although it should be available 24/7 it isn’t.

They are also very active on Twitter but fail to provide fund based support.

The response is quick and efficient and they have an extensive knowledge base and discussion forums to help you out.

Siteground, on the other hand, has excellent customer service with a live chat, ticketing system, and phone-based support.

They have an extensive knowledge base that can help you resolve any issues without having to contact customer support.

Ease of use

Both Dreamhost and Siteground are very easy to use. They have manageable cPanels although Dreamhost has its version of the cPanel, which might be a problem for more experienced users who want to migrate their files.

Unfortunately, they will have to complete this process manually through FTP and MySQL.

Dreamhost used to have a more complex verification system, but they recently updated this and made it as simple as possible.

Dreamhost Vs Siteground Pricing

In terms of pricing, it’s safe to say that both hosting have competitive price plans.

Dreamhost’s cheapest price plan starts from only $2.59 a month for their shared hosting.

VPS hosting starts at $10 a month their Cloud Server hosting prices go as low as $4.50 a month and their most expensive one is their dedicated server hosting at just below $150.00 a month.

The prices change depending on the length of the subscription and if you have to pay for a month only you’ll face

higher prices.

One of the best things about Dreamhost is they have an excellent 97-day return policy?

Siteground, on the other hand, offers a 30-day refund policy on their shared plans and only 14 days on their cloud.

But they do have some nice pricing depending on what you’re searching for.

Their web, WordPress and woo-commerce hosting price plans all start from $3.95 per month and go up to around $35 bucks a month.

Their cloud hosting prices range from $80 per month up to $240 a month.

Dreamhost Vs Siteground conclusion

Both Dreamhost and Siteground are an excellent choice for your website.

They’re reliable fast and have many options to choose from.

Choosing which one is the best suited for you is individual preferences and your goals and as I mapped out above selecting either Dreamhost or Siteground will come to your own personal preference.

Dreamhost has a cheaper plan offer and will be ideal for those who are starting out at $2.59 where Sitegrounds cheapest is $3.95.

If you are running multiple sites or plan to in the near future, Siteground will be a better choice with its 24-7 support and faster speeds..

In saying they are both recommended by WordPress as alternative hosting to them.
