Bluehost Vs iPage

Straight up here’s a kicker that you may not know and not a lot pf others are telling you.

Both these platforms are owned by the same company now. They’ve been bought out by EIG also known as Endurance International Group.

And here’s the proof on Wikipedia if we scroll down you can see Bluehost and you can also see Ipage.

Okay, even though these companies are owned by the same they operate a little bit differently, but a little bit the same. In saying that really the only difference to a certain degree will be the price and they are both tarnished with the same brush.

So let’s see how Bluehost Vs iPage stack up against each other regarding features and functionality… so with all that let’s get into it.

Bluehost Vs iPage Introduction

Bluehost is based out of Provo Utah in the United States and as said above is owned by EIG and was first originated way back in 1996.

They have control and host over 2 million websites from all over the world and employ 750+ staff to help run, support and promote Bluehost to where it is today.

In 2010 they were taken over by Endurance International Group(EIG)

The basic plan starts at just $2.95 per month, Plus $5.45, Choice Plus $5,95  and Pro at $13.95/month respectively. Once the “honeymoon” period is over, prices jump back up to there original pricing.

bluehost vs ipageAll the plans come with free domain, free SSL certificates, unmetered bandwidth and 24-7 support which we will cover more little later.

The basic plan gives you 50 GB of storage, free domain for the first year, a free SSL, unlimited bandwidth and standard performance.

The Plus and Choice Plus plans are relatively similar as they add spam experts, 30 days of Office 365 email, unlimited SSD storage, and unlimited domains. The notable difference is that Choice Plus has domain privacy and site backup while Plus does not. Pro includes all previously mentioned features, adding a dedicated IP and better overall performance.

The Plus and Choice Plus plans are pretty much the same plans with just a couple little tweaks. They both have spam experts, 30 day Microsoft office 365, as well as unlimited SSD storage and domains.

What the Choice plan has over the Bluehost plus plan is

  • Domain Privacy + Protection
  • Site Backup – CodeGuard Basic

Pro plan gives you all the above essential features mentioned above as well as you get dedicated IP address and their highest shared hosting performance deal.

Pro includes all previously mentioned features, adding a dedicated IP and better overall performance.

If you are moving from another host, Bluehost has a fee of $49 per site to transfer your site over, unless you want to go it alone.

Ipage Plans & Pricing

Ipage hosting, on the other hand, offers, well just the one in there share web hosting category and two plans under the WordPress banner.

With every plan, you get a free domain for the first year, free domain transfer and free email address.

The web plan starts at just $1.99 per month which makes them one of the cheapest hosting providers on the market.

When you sign up you have a choice of 12, 24 or 36 months and of course, the longer period the cheaper will be the more you save. After the trial period, the price rises to $ 7.99

The web plan consists of:

  • Unlimited bandwidth
  • Scalable bandwidth
  • Unlimited My SQL
  • Unlimited domains

With there dedicated WordPress hosting plans they start at $3.75 per month for the WP Starter and $6.95 for the WP Essential then go to $7.49 and $10.49 respectfully.

With the WP Starter plan you get

  • Free 1yr. domain registration

  • Unlimited bandwidth

  • Automatic malware removal
  • SiteLock professional security

You can purchase domains through iPage as well but remember what I said above about buying domains under the same banner as hosting.

My choice for domain registration is Namecheap.

Bluehost Vs iPage Support

support serviceWhen it comes to support, both offer 24-7 live chat, email as well as phone in there office opening hours.

Both hosts have really good wealth of knowledge base, how-tos, tutorials as well as their live chat.

Some customers report in the review section of very average response times and when finally got through support were not very knowledgable or helpful.

Both can assist you if you require a refund providing it in the 30-day money-back period and within their guarantee terms.

iPage vs Bluehost Speed

If you are looking for speed and have more than 1000 visitors to your site every day, I highly recommend to you that you use WPX Hosting. They are designed to handle high volume traffic with lightening speeds and you can see more here.

Whereas Bluehost and iPage struggle when you start pushing high volume visitors and traffic. In saying that, when you are just starting out and new both these companies will suit you well in the speed department.

Bluehost Vs iPage Uptime Guarantee

uptime loadsUptimes are very important and one of the most overlooked requirements when choosing a host. The higher the % is to 100 the better. It’s a percentage of how long you website will be offline for in a given month.

You won’t get anyone guaranteeing you 100% uptime, impossible as there will always need to update servers, maintenance requirements and things like that.

Both of these platforms do not guarantee you an uptime which is unfair in my books. The industry standard is %99.9 so you would at least make sure you can guarantee that benchmark.

In saying that there are many individual test results do show over the past years both have been averaging higher than the %99.9 standard and at times for the month %100 uptime.

Bluehost Vs iPage Ease of use

Bluehost runs with the standard industry cPanel system whereas iPage uses vDeck panel. User-friendly when starting out, both will be a learning curve to use so it doesn’t matter which.

If you’ve been around the traps and are used to using cPanel, vDeck will be a bit more complicated and not as user-friendly until you get your head around it.

As technology moves forward I feel many hosting providers will start to drift over to the vDeck panel system or customizing there very own.

Overall conclusion

For price and value you can’t go past iPage for their web hosting plan of jus $2 bucks a month on their 36-month contract. Even after the trial period its’s still cheap hosting at around $8 bucks a month.

Value for money with Bluehost is definitely the Choice Plus plan at only $5.45 bucks a month. Once the honeymoon period is over then it becomes a different ball game, there it skyrockets up to $14.99/month.

To newbies not having a guarantee uptime properly isn’t a huge deal but when you start building your business and rely on your site online for the longest period possible it’s nice to have that guarantee benchmark.

Not only that others also offer compensation if their guarantee time is not meet where you will get nothing from these two.

Both these hosts will serve you well and when starting out, but if you’re running high volume traffic, have out growing your monthly visitor allowances or simply want the fastest host on the planet… then this part is just for you.

What most people don’t tell you about shared hosting plans is that. You are sharing the servers with however many thousands, tens of thousands of other webmasters just like you.

And say you have an ad that goes viral on Facebook or a video on Youtube, and you start getting a ton of traffic to your site and exceeds your limits.

Some host will just disable your account, others will slow the speeds right down causing your finally optimized ad or video to load slow, creating higher hand times and bounce rate.

Not good for your visitors and not good for your website rankings and revenue.

How much is the loss of one sale worth to you?

For just $20 bucks a month here’s what WPX Hosting will do for you:

  • Give you the FASTEST web hosting on the market today in 2020 see proof here

It Worked For These People, And It Will Work For You

Here’s what WPX Hosting did for me… Got more main keywords unstuck in the SERPs and stopped bouncing between page 2 and page 1… increase traffic flow, lowered bounce rates and 3x revenue and it only took 15 minutes…
