In this comparison, we will cover the following:
- History and general introduction
- Ease of Use

Siteground offers live chat, phone, and ticket as well as a well-stocked knowledge base section which is free for all. Greengeeks also offer live chat and phone support and a good range of website tutorials and guides.
This is where Greengeeks at the times that I’ve tested are falling away. Support seems to be pretty average in as it seems to take a while to get the answers.
The experiences I’ve had is it seems like I’m in the wrong and if I am really having these issues like wtf… Siteground, on the other hand, are the opposite where they can’t do enough for you.
I’ve fully broken sites from testing and I can’t really fault these guys at all. At times waiting could be slow but it’s never been any more than 10 minutes max before I was talking to support.
Greengeeks Vs Siteground Speed & Uptimes
Having good reliability, overall performance and uptimes are a must-have for any web hosting provider otherwise you could be losing potential customers and visitors due to bad load speed times or sudden website crashes.
For speed, both these two providers rock with there CDN and running with the latest SSD server configurations. Uptimes Siteground is ahead with an amazing 99.99% uptime with an overall speed of 713 milliseconds.
Greengeeks is slightly lower with a 99.9% uptime but with lightening overall page speed of 487 milliseconds.
Does that 0.09% make much of a difference? You tell me after reading this…
Security, they are both loaded with security features and most of them are included in their pricing plan for free.
Both do daily backups, free SSL and TLS certificates as free real-time security and malware scanning.
Siteground also has there very own AI bot that helps protect your sites against malicious traffic and if there is any hacking or breaches there is a security team on call 24-7.
Greengeeks Vs Siteground Ease Of Use
Both Siteground and Greengeeks run with the standard cPanel to easy manage your website and email. With the 1-click WordPress install with the softaculous tool and access to 250+ scripts
Rounding It Up: Greengeeks vs Siteground
Overall you can’t go cheaper than Greengeeks between these two. That’s probably one of their main advantages. Currently, the cheapest plan is $2.95 a month.
Whereas the Siteground plan is a buck extra, you do get a better provider.
What lets Greengeeks down for me this the average customer service, as well as fudging around with refunds according to many unhappy reviews I’ve been reading of late.
Having a guarantee of just 99.9% doesn’t sound like much either but compared to Sitegrounds 99.99% but here is the maths.
On average, there are about 43,200 minutes in a month:
- With Greengeeks 99.9% uptime guarantee, the maximum amount of time your site can be down in a month is ~43.2 minutes.
- With Siteground’s 99.99% uptime guarantee, the maximum amount of time your site can be down in a month is ~11 minutes.
That means a generic 99.9% uptime guarantee can end up costing you an extra 3/4 hours of downtime per month! Doesn’t seem like such a small difference now, does it?
Greengeeks vs Siteground uptimes, Siteground wins this little battle between the two
What’s most important is that these two providers are good value for the money and meet their user’s needs.
Choosing a suitable hosting provider relies on your individual preferences and goals. From my own personal dealing with both hosts and the most recent.
Siteground has fallen off as being the best for fast and reliable support where Greengeeks support over the past months has 10 fold in customer satisfaction.
So with those dealings, my vote goes with Greengeeks as my NOW preferred shared hosting provider.
It’s hard to beat their reliable customer service and cheaper hosting plan offers than Siteground offers.

Greengeeks have become a very reliable share hosting plan and like all shared plans, when you pushing high volumes of traffic or competing against the big boys and speed and performance is the ultimate.
Shared hosting just doesn’t cut the mustard. They fold under high traffic volumes, some will slow your load times to a crawl and worse. Some like Siteground will just disable your account because you’ve exceeded the average bandwidth.
This is why I personally recommend WPX Hosting as my #1 web hosting provider thanks to its versatile features, flexibility, lightning-fast speeds, and designed to handle the high volume of traffic and the best thing… you won’t get penalized in doing so.
