Digital Pacific Hosting Overview
Digital Pacific is a web hosting business located in Sydney, Australia. They first opened the doors in 2000. With a team of almost 100 employees, they offer a full array of services perfect for those who like to one-stop-shop.
Altho they do offer everything that you need, as with all business they also do have their disadvantages and drawbacks.
With over 250,000 web sites hosted and more than 100,000 domain registrations, so you can pretty much say that they know what they are doing.
On offer, they have the domain registration, email, and web hosting. Web hosting is what we will be looking in the post and the rest is outside the scope of this article.
Digital Pacific Hosting Pricing & Plans
Digital Pacific offers personal, business, and premium hosting as well as reseller hosting, VPS, and dedicated hosting, cloud and WordPress hosting.
In this article, we’re only going to be covering their WordPress hosting plans and I will cover the other plans in future articles, but this one will be purely on their WordPress Hosting.
You have four WordPress plans available on offer.:
- WordPress Basic
- WordPress Standard
- WordPress Advanced
- WordPress Pro
Digital PacificWordpress Basic
The WordPress basic plan starts off at $16.90 a month when set-up on a month by month basis. The longer you sign up for the cheaper the rate is. You have four options to choose from
- month by month plan = $16.90/month
- 12-month plan = $14.08/month
- 24-month plan = $12.68/month
- 36-month plan = $10.99/month
So as you can see the longer you can take out the plan the cheaper it will be.
With WordPress basic plan you get:
- 1-web hosting
- 1 GB RAM
- 10GB of storage
- Unlimited traffic per month (more about that later)
- Daily backups
- DDOS protection
- Free SSL certificate
- Much more to list here
See the images below…
The WordPress standard starts off at $24.90 per month and with that you get pretty much the same as the basic plan with still only 1 domain host, but you get 25GB of storage and 2 GB RAM
Of course, taking the plan out over the 12-24 or 36-month period will see that monthly price dropdown per month cost.
WordPress Advanced plan
It is $44.90 a month but you get 2 web hostings as well as 4GB of RAM 50 GB of data storage, with 4 databases whereas the other two above only have 2.
There are a few other things when you sign up, so yer more up-sells.
And then we have the Pro
WordPress Pro Plan
Starting off at a nice $64.90 you get to host 3 websites plus you get everything above but wait there is more. You also get 6GB of RAM, 75 GB of storage data, 6 databases, unlimited traffic, and more options at the checkout.
All the plans come with the extra up-sell of speed kit caching plugin at $60
Digital Pacific Hosting Uptime Guarantee
The uptime guarantee is pretty important and is one very important criteria that one should never be overlooked.
Following the industry-standard of given you just, the standard 99.9% uptime guarantee doesn’t really jump out considering the pricing.
The aim is the higher the up-time, better for your business. With shared hosting your not going to get anyone to give you 100% guarantee but there and a ton give you 99.5% guarantee and upwards.
Support is another criteria that you need to pay attention too.
Digital Pacific has 24-7 365 days of the year.
You can contact their support team via phone, email, and live chat.
With an extensive range of how-to guides and tutorials, you’ll be able to find most of the answers to most common problems and questions.
Online security is a pretty big deal and protecting your website is a necessity. With daily free backups, and Digital Pacifics network monitoring network keeping an eye on performance, uptime, and reliability around the clock.
With its robust DDOS protection protecting your website from malware, attackers around the clock. It never sleeps.
For extra security, you have on offer Imunify360 which is available to you on sign up or you can contact support and they will be more than happy to help you out.
Site migration or moving to another web hosting can be a real problem and can cause many headaches if done wrong. While many offer free site migrations, unfortunately, Digital Pacific isn’t one of them.
They do have tutorials and how-to guides for those who want to try it alone.
If that’s not your style Digital Pacific site migration will cost $99 per account and north from there.
Digital Pacific hosting offer you a 30-day-money-back guarantee for all their shared and reseller hosting plans. You get 15 days to guarantee with their dedicated, VPS and cloud services.
Would I recommend Digital Pacific hosting? Overall they’re not as bad as some hosting providers but far from being anywhere near the top ones, pricing mainly.
What I like about them is
- Their committed 24-7 support all year
- Extensive knowledge base with tutorials and how-tos
- Still owned and operated by Australians and supporting our country.
- A one-stop-shop for all your website needs from hosting, email, and registration for those who like it simple.
Altho most people like to have everything all in the one place I recommend buying and register your website with Namecheap.
Ther are a dedicated domain register and will always have promo codes and discounts.
What I don’t like
My main issue with them is the price.
Looking at the prices today, the basic WordPress hosting plan will cost $16.90 per month for 1 website hosting.
Using the 16% discount for the yearly price that is $169.00 a year or $14.08 per month without any up-sells of security or domain transfers included taxes
If you have 2 websites you will need to take out the WordPress Advanced plan and that will cost you $37.42/month or $449 for the year which includes taxes or two basic plans @ $169 per year plus the extra caching plugin and the site migration fee and the list goes on and on.
And not only that, most shared hosting platforms hate you exceeding your monthly limits. If you are driving paid traffic or you finally got an ad or video to go viral, that is a huge achievement, going viral.
To most shared hosting providers, it sucks.
That high surge of traffic will put you outside of the average user’s TOS. Most will just slow your site down making page load speed a bitch which will increase your bounce rate.
Not good in Google’s eyes, others will disable your account.
So you finally get a winning ad and then you get another kick in the guts.
And if that is where you are heading… if you need hosting for more that one website or you have more than 1000 visitors… if you are running ads and expect an increase in traffic at times then you need to take a serious look at WPX Hosting.
